The Specials, currently enjoying mass critical acclaim following their recent 30th anniversary tour, have joined forces with Fred Perry for a very special show at The 100 Club on Thursday 25th June to aid the campaign to protect its independent status. The show will be a warm up for the band's performance the following day at Glastonbury Festival's Pyramid Stage on Friday 26th June. The 100 Club is a landmark of the London music scene and was integral to the growth of the punk and 2-tone scenes but this show will be the first time that The Specials have taken to its stage.
With its central London address and a legacy of legendary shows the pairing of The Specials and the 100 Club could not be more perfect. The band's recent string of UK dates have further burnished their legendary status with the NME saying 'there's not much greater than seeing the fabled Specials interplay', The Guardian declaring 'their sound represents our culture now as much as the current chart' in a 5/5 review and The Evening Standard weighing in with another 5/5 review as they 'rampaged their way through hits and choice album tracks'.
To see one of the most beloved and admired British bands in one of Britain's most beloved and admired venues is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Entry will be to competition winners only and competitions can be found on the band's website at www.thespecials.com and www.fredperrysubculture.com. No tickets will be available from the venue at all.
All proceeds from the evening, including the band's fee, will go to the campaign to keep the 100 Club an independent venue.
