British rap innovator Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, says that his forthcoming album will likely be his last.
Skinner spoke to The Guardian about his forthcoming, partially crowd-sourced, fifth album Computers And Blues.
He said that after this album, and a planned run of tour dates, he's giving the game away.
"I've been doing it for 10 years and I've always tried to do something different with each album," he told The Guardian. "Some [of my work has] been amazingly received and some of it hasn't been, and I've run out of new avenues."
Skinner sounds as fatalistic as he has recently on his blog. He admits that since he signed a five album deal, The Streets has been destined by economics as much as creativity.
He also said Computers And Blues doesn't really take a new direction: "It's all the directions I've already been down rehashed into something that's… quite nice on the ears."
