Before setting off to the States to record their new album, Music News favourites, The Subways, stormed through a 45 minute set in north London's Buffalo Bar, last night. It was a return to their debut gig when they appeared under their original name of Platypus. They played eleven songs in their one off appearance, which included favourites Rock and Roll Queen, Mary and I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say, from their debut Ian Broudie produced album, Young For Eternity. They also test drove a clutch of new songs which included Kalifornia, Shake Shake, Turnaround and I Won't Let You Down.
The atmosphere was electric and saw Cribs front man, Ryan Jarman join in the mosh pit fun at the end of the show, which culminated in the youthful exuberance of the three piece trashing their instruments to the encouragement of the crowd.
We look forward to the new album sometime over the next few months. Music News wishes the trio a sucessful trip.
