The Wombles have set their eyes on the Christmas number one spot with a re-release of 'Wombling Merry Christmas'.
It is hoped the track, which was originally released in 1974, will prevent this year's X Factor winner from taking the top spot in December.
The Wombles Uncle Bulgaria said: "I don't watch much television myself - I leave that to the young Wombles - but I hear The X Factor is jolly popular, However, W comes before X.
"Let's see what people think of the W Factor! It should appeal to the common people."
'Wombling Merry Christmas' went in at number two in 1974.
The Christmas chart has been consistently dominated by X Factor winners in recent years.
The only break came when Rage Against The Machine were propelled to number one in 2009 by a Facebook campaign.
