Thom Yorke has reacted with cautious optimism at the news that Gordon Brown looks set to take climate change seriously.
The Radiohead star this week posted a statement online revealing he hopes the new British Prime Minister "has finally stopped faffing about".
In the typically garbled message, Yorke, who is a vocal supporter and sometime activist for Friends Of The Earth, also encouraged fans to consider the environment issue.
He said: "I heard today that the British Prime Minister, Gordon his name is, has finally stopped faffing about and is talking about climate change as the inconvenient truth that it is, which, being as i am involved with Friends Of The Earth and the campaign to get a good law passed that really commits in the UK us to DO SOMETHING fast, is (at least on the surface) a good thing."
The singer was speaking following a speech by Brown to wildlife charity the WWF on Monday, in which he revealed a more vigorous approach to the environment.
Speaking about a mooted change in the law, Yorke commented: "If there is a law then we all have to act. am i dreaming? i am not the only one."
