Thomas Dolby's 'The Invisible Lighthouse Live' tour will be coming to the Eden project on Wednesday (September 11), which will include a film by the artist and a live performance.
Eden is one of several unique locations on his UK tour, which also includes a number of performances at historical art house cinemas.
Thomas Dolby is best known for his pop hits from the early eighties, including She Blinded Me With Science and Hyperactive! His work is distinctive for its firm grasp on technology, which elevates his music to the next level.
Not only is he a solo artist and producer, he is also an award-winning film maker, having filmed and edited The Invisible Lighthouse himself and utilised it to create a unique performance, combining live narration and a musical soundtrack of songs from his prolific career.
The film is focused around a subject close to his heart - a lighthouse from his childhood that became abandoned after the introduction of satellite navigation for ships. In a number of years the lighthouse will collapse into the sea due to the effects of erosion and global warming. The film explores Thomas's history and its ties back to the lighthouse and the surrounding areas.
Thomas had previously taken a break from music, taking on the role as musical director of TED, a not-for-profit organisation that arranges inspirational conferences focusing on technology, entertainment and design, for 12 years while living in sunny California.
He moved back to the UK five years ago to pursue his Map of the Floating City project, which is a gaming platform that requires the formation of tribes and trading relics, featuring named characters, places and objects from his songs. The games also include new music from the artist, plus some old favourites, to promote the album A Map of the Floating City.
Emma Halliday, Eden's Events & Hospitality Manager, says: "We are ecstatic to have Thomas play here at Eden. I am really looking forward to his electric sounds and exciting film lighting up the Biomes."
The doors open at 7:30pm and tickets to the show cost £20. They are available to purchase from Thomas Dolby's website at http://www.thomasdolby.com/tour/.
Thomas Dolby is also offering the chance to purchase a VIP package for the show at The Eden Project that includes: a private meet and greet with Thomas for photos and autographs, a signed A3 TIL poster, and preferred seating with a 'mystery' VIP hostess. The VIP package is priced at £50 and there are a limited number available.
