One of the Hollywood star’s most famous roles saw him play a fighter pilot called Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the 1986 action movie. Tom was reunited with his Top Gun co-star Anthony Edwards at a pre Golden Globes party on Friday night and the pair wasted no time in catching up.
Anthony played Maverick’s radar intercept officer, Goose, in the movie, and he and Tom spent 20 minutes talking about the fun they had making it.
A fellow reveller at the party claims he also overheard the pair discussing their other co-stars.
“Our source even heard Cruise ask Edwards if he'd spoken to Cruise's love interest in the film, Kelly McGillis,” reports the New York Daily News. “We wonder if the conversation had anything to do with news that the film's director, Tony Scott, is working on a sequel.”
Last year, Tony revealed he was planning to direct a follow-up to the original movie featuring Tom. He insisted the film wouldn’t be a “remake”, adding he was considering a script which sees pilots controlling their planes remotely.
