Tom Cruise WILL play rock star on the big screen

Shankman revealed the Mission Impossible star has signed on to play Stacee Jaxx in the big-screen adaptation of Broadway musical Rock of Ages.

“I can confirm Tom Cruise is doing Rock of Ages,” the director told US television interviewer Ryan Seacrest on the Oscars red carpet.

“He’s studying his vocals. He can sing. I can’t believe it. It’s a miracle.”

Cruise set tongues wagging last weekend when he attended a performance of Rock of Ages in LA with wife Katie Holmes.

In the show, the actor’s character sings classic Bon Jovi hit Wanted Dead Or Alive.
