Tom Hardy to play Elton John in Rocketman?

Tom Hardy is reportedly being eyed to depict Sir Elton John in Rocketman.

The Dark Knight Rises actor may exercise his vocal chords in the forthcoming biopic.

According to HitFix, Tom impresses Rocketman director Michael Gracey and is in the running to be the leading man.

This potential casting shocks many film critics due to Tom's acting history. He has been featured in movies involving heavy action sequences recently, including Lawless and Warrior.

Director Gracey and executive producer Elton John are in the nascent stages of development on the picture.

Rocketman has previously been described as "a biographical musical fantasy that weaves together the life of Sir Elton John and his music".

Numerous other leading men were up for this starring role, including Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor.

Thespian Tom is looking forward to a hectic 2014. Next year he will be seen in Mad Max: Fury Road, Animal Rescue, Locke, Child 44 and Everest.
