Sir Tom Jones has never sent a text.
The 69-year-old singer says he doesn't use mobile phone messaging or email because he feels people can hide behind their gadgets.
Tom said: "I don't get any pleasure from that sort of thing. I have never seen a text message - what's the point? Why not ring someone up?
"I think a lot of people hide behind emails because they don't like being asked questions. I love being interviewed and asked questions because I like a good chat."
But while Tom isn't a fan of modern technology, the singer - who goes on tour at the end of this month - says he loves inspiring modern artists.
He said: "They tell me I am an inspiration because I still love doing my job so much and it gives them hope that they won't burn out.
"I was talking to Robbie Williams on New Year's Eve and told him I was about to start a massive tour.
"He said, 'How do you do it?' and I told him that you have to love it."
