Tom Jones has been knighted in the New Year's Honours list.
The 65-year-old Welsh singer, whose career has spanned over 40 years, has been honoured for services to music.
Born in Pontypridd, Wales, Jones first hit the music world in 1963 as vocalist in the group Tommy Scott And The Senators and has since gone on to sell millions of records around the world with such hits as 'Delilah', 'It's Not Unusual', 'Sex Bomb' and 'You Can Leave Your Hat On'.
According to BBC News, jazz musician John Dankworth was also knighted in the New Year's Honours for his 50-year-career.
Dankworth, a performer, composer and conductor, has also served as musical director for such artists as Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and Sophie Tucker.
Singer Eddi Reader and The Beverley Sisters - Babette, Joy and Teddie - all received MBEs.
The Beverley Sisters, famous for such hits as 'Sisters', 'I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus' and 'Drummer Boy' were the first UK female group to break into the US top 10 charts.
Others honored from the entertainment world included Bruce Forsyth, who has been made a CBE and actors Imelda Staunton, Robbie Coltrane and The Kumars At No. 42 star Sanjeev Bhaskar, who were made OBEs.document.write(unescape("
