Tom Petty's management is sending a cease and desist to Republican candidate Michelle Bachmann about her use of 'American Girl'.
Bachmann, an ultra-conservative candidate for the Republican presidential run, has been playing Tom Petty's 'American Girl' at her rallies.
Now, Petty's people are demanding that she stop using it, much like Bruce Springsteen condemning Ronald Reagan for using his song 'Born In The USA' on the campaign trail.
NBC's Matt Ortega tweeted, '@TomPetty unhappy with Michele Bachmann's use of 'American Girl' and in process of issuing [a cease and desist] letter.'
Petty has previously had a run-in with conservatives using his songs, fighting George W. Bush's use of 'I Won't Back Down' during his 2000 presidential run.
And Ann Wilson from Heart also objected to Sarah Palin using 'Barracuda' for her vice-presidential campaign.
FOX News notes that Hillary Clinton used 'American Girl' during her campaign for the Democrat nomination, with no comment from Petty.
