Black Sabbath star Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
The 63-year-old rocker posted a statement on his website that announced he is in the "early stages" of the disease, which is cancer of the lymphocytes.
The so-called 'Iron Man of Rock' assured fans that he remains "upbeat and determined" and is working with doctors to beat the illness.
The website also stated that his Black Sabbath band mates Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward would like fans to send "positive vibes" to Tony.
The news come as Black Sabbath are working on their first album in 33 years. The record is being produced in Los Angeles with Rick Rubin and is still set to be released this fall, but Tony's website stated that the band will be travelling to the UK to work with the stricken guitarist.
Black Sabbath are planning to tour with their original line-up this May.
