Veteran Oakland rapper Too $hort (born Todd Anthony Shaw), was reportedly arrested early Wednesday morning (March 20) in Los Angeles and charged with DUI and felony narcotics possession after police pulled him over for a traffic violation.
$hort appeared to be under the influence when police pulled him over in Los Angeles on Wednesday for an unspecified traffic violation, according to TMZ.
The site also reported that when officers tried to administer a breathalyzer test, the 46-year-old rapper attempted to run away and was then placed under arrest after he tripped and fell down in the street. He also allegedly tried to dump some narcotics out in the back of the police cruiser on his way to the station. At press time Short was being booked for DUI and felony narcotics possession.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department could not be reached for comment to verify the TMZ account and a spokesperson for $hort was not available for comment at press time.
This isn't the first brush with the law $hort Dog has had in recent years. In 2010 he was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery after getting into a scuffle with security guards at an Idaho nightclub. He was also arrested for DUI and marijuana possession in Las Vegas in 2009.
Too $hort released a pair of collaborative albums with E-40 last year, entitled History: Mob Music and History: Function Music, as well as a solo album, No Trespassing.
