The long-awaited biopic of rapper Tupac Shakur will begin filming this year.
Morgan Creek Productions have announced that the biopic, simply titled Tupac, is currently at the casting stage and will begin principal photography in the middle of the year.
The film will be shot in Los Angeles, New York, Georgia and Las Vegas.
The film's producer LT Hutton said, "I am honored to be part of the process that is bringing his life and legacy to the big screen. I am thankful to [Tupac's mother] Afeni Shakur for giving this project her blessing and to Morgan Creek for giving it the green light."
The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who previously helmed Training Day and Brooklyn's Finest.
The screenplay was written by Steve Bagatourian, as well as Stephen J. Rivele and Christopher Wilkinson who co-wrote biopics Nixon and Ali.
