A celebrity news blog claims the show’s producer, Chuck Lorre, has been in talks with Lowe, 46, about taking on the role.
Lorre, who Sheen has branded a “maggot” and an “earthworm”, has reportedly been holding meetings about keeping the comedy series going, despite the sacking of Sheen earlier this week.
According to the blog, Lorre’s team and bosses at Warner Bros have drawn up a “shortlist of replacements” for the actor’s jingle-writing character.
They have apparently been in touch with Lowe’s agent at William Morris-Endeavor to discuss the possibility of getting him on board.
But the blog claims Lowe’s role in US comedy show Parks and Recreation – as well as his close friendship with the Sheen family – could prevent the deal taking place.
Production on the current series of Two and a Half Men was shut down two weeks ago after Sheen, 45, launched a bizarre verbal attack on his bosses.
