Two Door Cinema Club release their fantastic debut album, "Tourist History" on March 1st 2010 on French label Kitsuné. It will be preceded by the single "Undercover Martyn" on 22nd February 2010.
The trio from Bangor, Northern Ireland have recently received the auspicious nod from the BBC after being named as one of the fifteen acts on the BBC Soundpoll as well as featuring in numerous end of year tips for 2010. This, coupled with their already strong online following, ensures that "Tourist History" is set to make a big impact.
The album is undeniably pop, but draws on disparate elements including electronica/electro, rock and Afro-beats whilst remaining resolutely fresh and inventive. Pigeon-holing this band will be impossible. Formed at the age of 15, the band now say: "We were playing music that we weren't enjoying, so we said 'let's write some songs, without any pretence of what they'll sound like'. That's why we find it so hard now if people now ask us what genre we are."
The only constant between songs is the length of them – short! – redefining short, sharp and sweet. The songs average out at a pop-perfect 3 mins. Says Kev, "We've never seen the point of adding something on to make the song longer. Or to cram in lots of songs. We just wanted a really impressive first album, where every song could be someone's favourite."
Two Door Cinema Club will be touring their new album extensively through 2010, starting with a sold out UK tour and have just added two NME Awards Shows with The Maccabees plus a support tour with Phoenix.
Having already accumulated nearly a million listens online and being signed to one of the coolest indie labels around , the tour and debut album are sure to propel Two Door Cinema Club firmly into your consciousness. Watch them go....
