Usher feels "blessed and fortunate" that his son is recuperating well from his near-death experience.
The R&B singer's five-year-old child Usher Raymond V nearly lost his life after drowning in a swimming pool at the star's home in Atlanta, Georgia. Contract workers at the residence are credited with freeing the boy and giving him CPR after he reportedly got stuck in the pool drain while trying to get a toy.
Usher Jr. is swiftly getting back to vigour and his father is incredibly thankful for his life.
He also appreciates fans for their tremendous support at this time.
"I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering," Usher released in a statement to Access Hollywood.
"I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family's well-being. I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock. I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son's life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them."
Usher's aunt was looking after the boy when he nearly drowned.
The musician shares Usher Jr. with ex-wife Tameka Raymond and she has filed legal papers to have an emergency custody hearing, according to TMZ.
The website reports she "is asking for temporary primary custody of their two children [and] says it's typical that Usher delegates responsibility for their kids" to others.
