Velvet Revolver treated fans to a set laced with Gun's n Roses, Stone Temple Pilotsand Nirvanasongs in Manchester last night (September 1).
The band, consisting of former Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland, Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum, along with ex-Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner, received a rapturous reception when they arrived onstage at the Carling Apollo.
A curtain, which sported the statement “Rock and Fuckin Rollâ€, dropped down and the group tore into their opening album track ‘Sucker Train Blues'.
Weiland, who was dressed in a police hat, shades and leathers, shouted: “Manchester we are ‘Velvet Revolver' and we play motherfucking rock and roll. If you can fuck to this, fuck to this,†before he launched into ‘Do It For The Kids'.
During the 80 minute set, the band performed two encores and treated fans to Guns N' Roses classics like ‘It's So Easy' along with Stone Temple Pilots hits ‘Crackerman' and ‘Sex Type Thing'.
Before he sang forthcoming single ‘Fall To Pieces', Weiland told the crowd that when he wrote the song, he was in a “bad and a very lonely place in his life.â€
The group eventually ended the set with Nirvana track ‘Negative Creep', which also features as a b-side on Velvet Revolver's first single, ‘Slither'.document.write(unescape("
