We Are Scientists team up

We Are Scientists were joined onstage by support act ¡Forward, Russia! last night for the first of two dates in London.

As the US three-piece closed their set at the Astoria with hit single 'The Great Escape', singer Keith Murray dived into the crowd and Whiskas ran onstage to take over the guitar duties.

Earlier that night, Murray dedicated 'It's A Hit' to the Leeds outfit and, during the song, singer Rob Webb strapped on some huge boxing gloves for a spot of fisticuffs.

It was an eventful night for We Are Scientists, who went on to perform new song 'Surprise' and a cover of The Ronettes classic 'Be My Baby'.

Throughout the show Murray and guitarist Chris Cain were on fine form, bantering with each other in between songs.

Before they launched into B-side 'Mucho Mas' the pair even had a cheer off which Cain eventually won with the bassist declaring: "I fucking love you guys. You're all coming round to my place. I'm taking you home."

The band's set comprised tracks from their debut 'With Love & Squalor', including 'This Scene Is Dead', 'Inaction' and 'Textbook' along with singles 'Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt', 'The Great Escape' and B-sides 'This Means War and 'History Repeats'.
