WHITNEY HOUSTON has admitted that she almost quit music for good last year.
The award-winning singer, who has not released an album in six years, said she had music mogul Clive Davis to thank for helping her revive her career.
She said: "When Clive called me, I was pretty ready to buy my island home [and retire], but he said 'No, you're going to sing again, people want to hear you'."
Speaking to journalists at the premiere of her new LP in London this week, she added: "I hope that these songs stay with you for a lifetime."
Houston's comeback album I Look to You is due for release in September.
