Will Young tops radio poll

Will Young has been voted the most popular British artist of all time in a poll of radio listeners.

The Pop Idol winner beat Robbie Williams and Sir Paul McCartney to top the Music Week May Day chart. The poll of listeners of commercial radio also put Take That and the Spice Girls in the Top 10.

The Beatles just made the Top 40, coming in at 34, just below Texas and Craig David.

The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Jam, The Kinks, Sex Pistols, Radiohead, Prodigy, Madness, Blur, Cliff Richard and Tom Jones did not make the list.

Will said he was 'honoured' to have topped the poll adding: "What makes it so special is that it's voted for by the public.

"I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and made the effort to vote. I'm over the moon."
