Wolf Alice are one of those brilliant new acts that can't be labelled. They dance across a range of genres and bring everything together to make them all just feel like 'Wolf Alice' - and that exactly what we can expect from their hotly-anticipated debut album.
They've already won over a strong cult following with their string of compelling EP releases - finding fans in critics and bands like Peace and Manic Street Preachers. Before they took to the stage to wow more fans at Reading Festival, we asked them how they were progressing with their upcoming debut.
"The album - At the moment we're going to wrap up festival season, then we're going to get our heads down and get into it," said bassist Theo Ellis. "We've had it finished in our heads for a while, it's just about ratifying that and getting it down in the studio so we're going to do that as soon as we get back, pretty much."
Singer Ellie Rowsell added: "It's still pretty diverse, but I think that once we've had a good stretch in the studio things will come together and it will sound coherent and stuff. We like so many different types of music and stuff that hopefully the songs are all kind of different."
She continued: "I think people think we're like a heavy grunge band but actually, I don't think we are. I think that will come through on the album. We have influences of grunge and heavy music, and some of our songs are like that - but there's a lot of other stuff which might be more apparent on the album. A lot more softer numbers and stuff like that."
Theo: "I think it's a necessary facet of journalism. When we'd only put one song out, people thought we were this ode to country kind of band. You gauge it by what you put out and we've slowly put out quite a lot of diverse material, and like Ellie said, the album will tie everything together."
