Yo La Tengo and Midlake will headline the first night of this year's END OF THE ROAD festival. The UK's favourite new festival* famously features parrots and peacocks strolling freely through its English gardens, while a truly relaxing, communal atmosphere sees the festival rediscover the original charm of outdoor music events.
Being the final event of the festival season, END OF THE ROAD is the perfect opportunity to relax and recover after a summer of hedonism. It's a personal and individual event, with true festival fans able to delight in its independence, since END OF THE ROAD is totally free from corporate branding.
Held amid the wonderful surroundings of Larmer Tree Gardens, in Dorset and Wiltshire, between 14th and 16th September, END OF THE ROAD mixes innovative, upcoming and established acts across all genres. END OF THE ROAD is for festival goers who believe these events should be about more than just the line-up.
Also announced today are Joan As Police Woman, Architecture In Helsinki, Malcolm Middleton, Archie Bronson Outfit, Jim White, James Yorkston, Richard Swift, Besnard Lakes, Dan Sartain, Stephanie Dosen, David Vandervelde, Indigo Moss, Liz Green, Woodpigeon, Telegrams, CW Stoneking, Slow Club, Reigns, Post War Years, Alessi and The Congregation.
Other acts include: Super Furry Animals, Brakes, The Broken Family Band, Howe Gelb, Herman Dune, Findlay Brown, Fionn Regan, Jeffrey Lewis, Josh T Pearson, Micah P Hinson, Misty's Big Adventure, My Brightest Diamond, Seasick Steve, Viking Moses, Euros Childs, Sunny Day Sets Fire and The Young Republic. For full line-up see below.
This year's festival also sees a new arrival in The Local – a special folk tent inside the beautiful gardens which will play host to pop quizzes, folk idol and the general mayhem that occurs here: www.myspace.com/thelocalcrouchend.
*END OF THE ROAD won Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2006. Now in its second year, the festival will again welcome 5,000 festival-goers who seek something a bit different to the chaos and filth of some other festivals.
END OF THE ROAD also welcome applications from new and unsigned talent and will be offering song writing workshops, an open mic stage, lots of events and activities for children and adults alike, art installations throughout the site, Swedish quiz walks, Kubb - the Viking game, films, comedy and much more besides.
