Young Fathers have been crowned the winner of the Mercury Music Prize 2014 with their album, Dead.
The band were relative outsiders going into the awards, having been nominated alongside favourites FKA Twigs, Kate Tempest and Royal Blood.
Accepting the award, Young Fathers simply said: "Thank you. We love you. We love you all. Thank you."
Speaking to Alice Levine afterwards, they said: "It's positive. We took it in our stride. When we were younger we always wanted to make something that was bigger than the city we were living in. We know what we've done is special."
The alternative hip hop band formed in 2008 and released two EPs, Tape One and Tape Two before the release of this year's debut, Dead.
