Zooey Deschanel's divorce from Ben Gibbard has been formally recognised in court.
The New Girl actress separated from the Death Cab for Cutie musician on Halloween, October 31 2011, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of their split. She filed for divorce in December of last year.
People magazine reports that Zooey and Ben's marriage annulment was honoured last week on December 12 by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The court documents reveal the reason behind the couple's split.
"Unhappy and irreconcilable differences have arisen between the parties, which have caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage," the papers read.
"There is no possibility that counseling… or mediation could save the marriage."
Financial papers filed in Zooey's case obtained by TMZ last year show that she is worth $3 million and makes an average of $95,000 a month.
It is unknown whether spousal support was decreed.
