Nicolas Peyrac Biography
Jean-Jacques Tazartez, better known as Nicolas Peyrac was born October 6, 1949 in Rennes (Brittany). He was born into a family with an important tradition for medicine. Raised with his brothers in a family of doctors, he took off with his mother to New York when his parents divorced, and later came back to live with his father in Brittany. A natural born musician, he taught himself how to play the guitar. He followed his family tradition at the same time as he was experimenting with music and arts. He showed a keen eye and skill for photography and even did some album cover work. Moved to Africa in 1971, to live with his mother while attending school. His music contacts enabled him to meet Patrick Legrand, who took his material for review and later amazed Peyrac when he heard one of his songs interpreted by Marie Laforet. The success of this 45 earned him an immediate contract with Pathé-Marconi. Then, his first two 45s were real flops. The record company was concerned with whether they should continue with him or not. "So far away from LA" changed all this and made him an overnight star. He abandoned his medicine studies when he was almost done in his 6th year. Consequently, his music surfaced and worn awards in 1975. This legitimized his position and status as one of the best musicians of that generation.
