No They Do Biography
No They Do is a loose collection of participants adhering to the will of Pete Kellers. Pete began writing robot songs when he realized that robots felt the same crushing sadness that is within all of us. He then solicited song submissions from his other song-writing friends, and re-recorded them. Those songs are the album “When Robots Rule the World”, a concept album imagining what would happen if Pete posed as a robot musicologist named XJ3 and collected folk songs from robot communities of North America. The album was self released in 2006 under the label Vermilion Music. Pete is a self taught guitar player, and long time music lover. He appreciates a low-fi aesthetic and records all the songs on his computer at home using Garageband and a single microphone. Pete’s influences include The Tall Dwarfs, The Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Wooden Wand, and Elf Power. No They Do is currently working on a second album, which will be about cannibals and/or flesh-eating zombies. Pete Kellers has lived in Portland, Oregon with his lovely and supportive wife Susan since moving from San Diego in 1999. In San Diego he fronted the bands Skinbus and The Elegant Bachelors. Until recently he played guitar in the now defunct Portland band Wind Up Birds, and currently plays bass in the Portland group Pay The Coyote. Pete earns money as a freelance web designer.
