Norma Jean Biography
Norma Jean are a metalcore/mathcore band from Douglasville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. To date, the band have released five studio albums and received a Grammy Award nomination in 2006 for Best Recording Package for their second album, O' God, the Aftermath. The band's name is derived from the real name of actress Marilyn Monroe. Previously known as Luti-Kriss, they'd released an EP and full-length album under that name. Since their inception in 1997, the only original members of the band are the two guitarists, Chris Day and Scottie Henry. The original lead vocalist, Josh Scogin left the band in 2002 after the recording of Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child. The original bassist, Josh Doolittle, also left the band at the same time. Brad Norris would join the band to perform live lead vocals for around a year and a half until being replaced by the band's current lead vocalist, Cory Brandan Putman, formerly of Eso-Charis, Living Sacrifice, Uses Fire, and The Handshake Murders. Doolittle would also be replaced by the current bassist, Jake Schultz. The band underwent another member change when their original drummer, Daniel Davidson, left the band and joined Underoath. Chris Raines, who is also the drummer for Spitfire, is the band's current drummer. The five albums they've released so far are Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child, O' God, the Aftermath, Redeemer, The Anti Mother, and Meridional.
