Otis Clay Biography
Born February 11, 1942 in the rural community of Waxhaw, Mississippi, Otis was raised in a strong Church community Otis Clay started his career as a gospel singer in Chicago in the mid-60s, but gained fame after switching to soul and R&B a few years later. Over the next decade, he produced a string of hit singles, recorded in Memphis' legendary Muscle Shoals studios. His most succsful period was when he switch to the famous produce Willie Mitchell at Hi records. "Trying to Live My Live without You" reportedly sold half a million copies in 1972. Clay started up on his own in 1975 (Echo records) his first release was "Victim of Circumstance" A master showman, Otis Clay stays in demand for festival and concert appearances in the U.S., Europe and Japan.
