A unique hybrid of rabble rousing punk, roots reggae social consciousness and Brazilian/Latino inflected carnival sounds, these self-styled anti-heroes are led by Anglo-Italian beatnik Pietro DiMascio. Musicians from cultural backgrounds spanning Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brasil, Poland, Syria, Jamaica, Australia creat a totally original sound that is not easily pigeon holed. They recently were asked by Manu Chao, one of their heroes, to support him on his UK tour and described by Tom Robinson on his show for BBC6 music as 'not so much a pop group...more an attitude.. more a way of life.... more a way of thinking' Peyoti for President officially released their debut single on September 11th 2008 called 'We the People' the title taken from the 1787 United States Constitution in which they claim to expose the lies of mass consumerism and unbridled political power, a call to the people of the world to unite. Despite the political slant of Peyoti for President their live gigs are what recieves the most attention and they are fast becoming known as one of Londons most dynamic and exciting live bands.
