Reality

1. Early 90's Reality from Salt Lake City, Utah was Chris Carlton - guitar, Trent Falcone - vocals, Brad Butterfield - bass, Justin Spencer - drums, & Spencer Jacobs - guitar. They played a style of hardcore similar to later Insight meets Outspoken. 2.Jonathan Michael McCarter, a.k.a. “Reality”, was born on June 15th 1990 to Michael and Claudia McCarter. Born in Augusta, GA he was moved around for most of his childhood, until he arrived in Miami, FL at the age of 9. His mother being from Chile had a big impact on the decision to relocate in Miami, due to the large Latin-American community. Music came into his life when he started middle school at Highland Oaks Middle. Subject to a list of electives, Jonathan chose to take part in the schools band program at the age of 11. He played the glockenspiel – or the “bells” - in his first year, and was invited to play the cymbals with the advanced band in there annual march. The next year, he was promoted to advanced band where he excelled in the percussion section. He played the snare and the tri-toms in the marching band. Although he loved music, he didn’t think he could take it any further than college, and constantly found him self wondering if he needed a change in hobbies. Around his 16th birthday, his friend Filipe Medeiros entered the both of them in a film contest, where Jonathan came across the user friendly program, Garageband. He was in shock. “I had no idea you could compose music with a computer” he said. He then became familiar with the program FL Studio, a.k.a. “Fruity Loops”. He was programming beats at the age of 16, and a year later, with the support of his mother, he was able to invest in a Pro Tools system. He heard about Fullsail through friends and magazines. Though he was a good student, an undetermined Jonathan dropped out of high school at 17. He quickly received his GED with above average scores. Lucky for him, Fullsail was accepting students with their GED. After his ‘behind the scenes tour’, he and his mother were convinced. “This is the place for Jonathan” his mother said. “I can see him learning a lot and becoming very successful here”. A few months later, he took his journey a step further and started at Fullsail. He recently graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Recording Arts, and is currently pursuing his Bachelors degree.
