Ritam Nereda Biography
Ritam Nereda is active since 1989. although initial idea was born in 1987. when the first song `For Novi sad` was recorded. By the end of 1989. they recorded demo tape called `Oi Ain`t Dead` released through Predskazanje tapes. At that period band begins to play live more often, and crowds of fans begin to follow them from the very beginning. This becomes an everlasting inspiration for the band members. In mid-1990 Ritam Nereda recorded their first album called `Nikog nema` (No One`s There). `We kept contact with many fanzines and people accros Europe. We also sent tapes, and there lies the interest in us.` Just two months later, Nikog Nema was released by German label DIM Records. Great reviews had followed, and record found its way to independent charts, while bend strated receiving invitations for giggs. Breakthrough was made in Europe before in ex-Yugoslavia where album was released through Ghoust House couple of months later. By the end of 1992. bend begun recording of the second album, Breaking, in Germany, where it was released for Waltzwerk Records. Locally it was released through Music User. Many invitations to Punk-Rock festivals and solo giggs throughout Europe followed, but due to war and sanctions, visas are denied to band members. `Our label had many problems because of the `Serbian band`. Police seized all master tapes and booklets, and demanded punishment for embargo breach, so both LP and CD have a UNICEF sticker because a part of the profit went to children victims of war, and we had to write that Breaking had absolutely no connections to war.` Two years of continous giggs evolved into Pogo Live album (Complete Service, label owned by the bend). `We think that people can feel our real energy and messages on Pogo Live, and that is the reason why they stuck with us. Our songs are about the truth, and we sing them very loud.` - was one of the press statements at that time. Beginning of 1996. sees songwriting for the new album `Zvuci bola` (Sounds Of Pain). Recordings took long, and the album was finally over and out in stores in December 1996. (Nered Source, label owned by the bend). Video clips and concerts have been the logical next step, but due to a clearly defined attitude band`s effort was ignored by media, while different political organisations characterized album as extremely radical which led to attacks and prohibitions. Because of Zvuci Bola, band was nominated `public enemy No. 1`; concerts got canceled, so was the truth. Media prohibition lasts even more than ten years after, but this has not broken Ritam Nereda. It even made it stronger and gave the band strenght and belief in its way. Video clips are made for songs Tudji Glasovi i Vas Svet, concerts were held across Serbia. Also, re-releases of Nikog Nema, Breaking and Pogo Live (all in digipack, A Records) were made. New material for album 999 was conceived in late 1998. but the recording in Austria was harshly interrupted by NATO bombing which caused band members to return to Serbia. Eight months were needed for complete mastering at ATS Studio, and release of 999 through Automatik Records which later distributed illegal copies of the album. In mid-2002. new live CD, Exist To Resist saw light. Twenty songs incorporated all of the anger produced throughout the thirteen years, and proved Ritam Nereda to be one of the finest live acts in this region. Later that year Poriv (Urge), brings significant change to the sound of the band. One thing was for sure: either you liked it, or not! No one seemed to be indifferent. New release, IX, meets high standards which band always kept, and tour is eagerly expected The best punk band, band of all time......!!!!!!
