Rodriguez

Five acts under the same name: an American musician, an American band, an Austrian punk-rock band, an artist from Brazil, a Swedish indie-electronica artist. 1) Rodriguez was born Sixto Diaz Rodriguez on the 10 July 1942. Sixto means sixth in Spanish - he is the sixth child in his family. He was born and bred and still lives in Detroit, Michigan, in the USA. His is popular in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, Blue Goose Records rereleased his two albums and a compilation in the late 70's: "Cold Fact", "Coming From Reality" and "At His Best", as well as a live recording from his 1980 tour of Australia, "Rodriguez Alive". "Coming From Reality" was called "After The Fact" in South Africa. A tour of South Africa in 1998 followed the release of "Looking for Jesus" a documentary where a South African journalist and fan sets out to find him after longstanding rumors of his death. This was also marked by another album release, "Live Fact", that went platinum in South Africa. He has toured South Africa and Australia a number of times since. 2) Rodriguez was a band which originated in San Luis Obispo, California. Formed in 1991 by bassist/vocalist Kyle Field (aka Little Wings) and guitarist/vocalist Matt Ward (aka M. Ward), drummer Mike Funk joined in 1993. Their only album to date, Swing Like a Metronome, released in 2000, was recorded by Grandaddy's Jason Lytle and featured songs written between 1992 and 1997. After Rodriguez disbanded, both songwriters went on to illustrious solo careers. His two albums were remastered and rereleased on CD in 2008 and 2009 by Light in the Attic Records. 3) Rodriguez is a Garage Punk-Rock Band from Austria.
