Ruben Gomez Biography
RUBEN GOMEZ - has shined in the limelight for over a decade as an international artist and actor. Recently he participated in the concept recording of "Z-The Masked Musical" by Robert W. Cabell along with former teen sensation Deborah "Debbie" Gibson and Roberto Blades. Ruben Gomez is currently enjoying mega-success with his new release in Europe entitled "Siempre Manana (Tomorrow Forever)". Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 25, 1975, Ruben began studying singing, dancing, acting, and the guitar at the age of four. He gained professional experience and early recognition of his talent through radio and television voice-overs, jingles, and commercials for national advertisers such as "McDonald's", "Roy Rogers", "Hallmark Greeting Cards" and many more. At the age of (10), Ruben Gomez released on McGillis Records a solo album entitled "No Es Una Illusion", the Spanish version of "Puppy Love" made popular by Paul Anka and Donny Osmond. The release included other songs like "Dale Dale" and "Muvanse Todos" the Spanish version of "Twist & Shout". In 1987 MENUDO inducted him into the Latin music major leagues, replacing Robby Rosa and he became the first Menudo not a resident of Puerto Rico. As a member of Menudo with superstar Ricky Martin, Ruben recorded nine albums in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Tagalog he also performed throughout the World, including the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Japan, Europe and the Philippines. While in the Philippines, Ruben together with the other Menudo members including Ricky Martin filmed a music video "That Situation" with internationally renowned artist, Lea Salonga. This particular song was recorded in Orlando, Florida and became the title track of their next album. After leaving Menudo Ruben toured with long time friend and Ex-Menudo Sergio Gonzalez a/k/a Sergio Blass. Ruben also recorded a solo album release on McGillis Records entitled "Move" which gained numerous reviews for its diversity of Club House and Hip Hop dance. The song "Move" was a top selling dance single in the USA. In addition to his singing career, Ruben is also an accomplished actor with numerous television credits, including three soap operas, a mini-series filmed in Venezuela, several sitcoms in Puerto Rico, performances on "Star Search", "the David Letterman Show" and "Regis and Kathie Lee". Ruben acted in the New York City Broadway production "Oliver", he also held leading roles in seven off-Broadway productions and appeared in several movies, holding a leading role in the Christmas film "A Time To Remember".
