Secret Secret Dino Club. What appears to be a rather large name for a one-man project is actually more than appropriate. The music of 21-year-old Jayce Levi Kalinkewicz of Saratoga Springs, NY is the only thing that sounds more fun than the moniker under which he performs. In the realm of news headlines flashing ‘war,’ ‘corruption,’ and ‘scandal,’ we found ourselves wondering where all the enjoyment went. Secret Secret Dino Club has no trouble reminding us where it is. At such a young age, there aren’t many people who can truly say they have accomplished what Kalinkewicz has. Spending most of his time on the internet releasing his music paid off quickly, landing himself an MTVu ‘Artist Spotlight’ feature and a nomination for a Woodie award from the same channel. “After a number of unsuccessful attempts expressing myself through other music outlets, I decided to do things on my own in a way which I could craft all my favorite things about music to create a unique sound that defines me as a person.” Kalinkewicz notes. Unique is a word that gets tossed around a lot when referring to music, but in this case is far from cliché. Citing influences that range from Nas, Gatsby’s American Dream, Gym Class Heroes and Hellogoodbye, Secret Secret Dino Club has a little something for everyone. This and a live show containing nothing but a telecaster, a microphone and iPod and “sophisticated and tasty” dance moves, the audio and visual cortexes will be fighting for concentration. “My main goal as a musician is to keep things fun and always energetic represented in live performance and on recordings. And to just be myself. To show people how I live my life, and hope they can relate on any level.” His cd titles, if nothing else, provide the nessecary evidence to this young man’s goal: “Big Whoop, Wanna Fight About It?” (released in 2007 to a sold-out, hometown crowd) and “Super Fun Party Songs-EP” (released in 2008) which are both available on iTunes and other various digital retailers. With regional touring under his belt, and national touring planned for late Summer 2008, Secret Secret Dino Club can’t wait to meet you!
