See Spot Run Biography
See Spot Run was formed in Montreal Quebec by Chris Brodbeck and Randy Bowen. Chris and Randy grew up in the same area of Montreal and began their career together as a cover band in the early nineties playing songs by The Police, Prince, The Clash and U2 The band was born out of a merging of 2 local rock bands. The band name was taken from the first grade text. It was their manager who eventually suggested the name and it was the only one they could all agree on. The band was signed to Canada's Loggerhead Records and released their first album Ten Stories High in July 1997. On the album, track 13 has 13 seconds of silence. Gary Moffet produced and co-engineered the album and also supplied some guitar work. They released singles and videos for the songs Au Naturel, Lucy and My Name is Santa. See Spot Run's song Lucy was included on the Canada Games Compilation CD and was played during national broadcasts of the games. The Canada Games took place in CornerBrook, NFLD on February 1999. "Weightless" the band's second album was written in six weeks. Gary Moffet worked with the band again on the album. The title track Weightless was written in fifteen minutes and was written at Chris' brothers house in Winnipeg. The band's first single and title track Weightless flew up the charts and hit top ten. It then earned the title of being the first ever single by an independent band/label to crack the top ten in BDS (Broadcast data systems) chart history.(August 1999) (BDS is a national radio spins based chart) Weightless stayed on the rock charts for over six months. A remix version of Weightless then screamed up the Canadian CHR chart in just eight weeks reaching number six. The song stayed in the top ten for nine weeks straight.(Nov 30 - 1999 to Feb 9 2000) Within months, See Spot Run had claimed two top ten hits, Weightless and Terrified and had videos added to Much Music and Musique Plus. The french remix Decoller hit#1 on the Quebec pop/rock charts in January 2000. They were the first band to launch an album at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. They launched Weightless on May 3, 1999. They sang both the Canadian and American National anthems at the opening ceremonies when the Toronto Raptors took on the Miami Heat at the Air Canada Centre on January 28, 2000. After launching the CD and the new video with a live webcast from the Air Canada Centre, the new single hit the Canadian singles chart. See Spot Run started to break into the USA. 15 American radio stations in the Mid-west has already added "Weightless" In March 2000, the band received the Factor Breakthrough Award for most radio airplay by a new artist as well as the Wire Magazine Concert Of The Year Award that was voted in by the public.
