Starting merely as a concept in 2003 by central member Mr. Strange, the Freak Show slowly evolved into a real entity of the course of the past four years. The concept? A musical, vaudeville, cabaret, rock circus! Similar to what Alice Cooper toyed with back in the 1970's, but reinvented and rejuvenated for a new generation, both musically and visually. The result is a grotesque montage of musical genres, images, concepts, and ideas. Other musicians were drawn into the world of the Freak Show to join Mr. Strange on his crusade for world domination since the bands inception in 2003. Guitarist Dr. Dread abandoned his previous musical career to join the band, along with bassist Neandythal and drummer Mr. Stirling. With each member sporting an impressive musical background, the Freak Show packs a sonic punch when it comes to live performances, combined with a unique sound, image and stage presence, the Shanklin Freak Show is unlike any other band doing the rounds on the current UK music scene.
