Simon Lynge Biography
Simon Lynge (/pronounced Linj/) is an acclaimed singersongwriter and an eskimo raised in the tundras and steppes of Greenland. His debut album The Future was produced by Matt Forger who engineered Michael Jackson's Thriller and Bad albums. Two songs from this album have already been used in commericials in Skandinavia and a third "Love Comes Back To You" has been used in an American Pie film. The Times wrote that "Lynge could be this year’s José González. " Lynge was a shepherd as a child and did not attend school. He was exposed to music and storytelling by his multitalented father Karl, who played accordion and worked with Eskimo folklore in the Tukak Theatre Group. As a teenager, Lynge enrolled in the Holstebro Music Conservatory in Denmark, where his passion for music led him to study the guitar and songwriting, and he quickly found himself co-writing and performing with the leading lights of the Copenhagen songwriting scene. He saved up and travelled to Los Angeles where Matt Forger heard him performing and offered to record an album with him bringing in some of LA's greatest players all of whom gave their time for free. Allison McGourty of UK's boutique indy record label Lo-Max, saw Simon performing in LA and signed him to a worldwide deal. Simon toured the UK for the first time in the autumn of 2009 to unanimously enthusiastic notices and in December he was invited to perform on Denmark’s biggest Christmas TV show. He has also just played at the Sundance Film Festival.
