Snakepit

Snakepit are a hardcore punk band based in Toronto, Ontario. The band started in November of 2009, when vocalist D'Arcy Rix-Hayes met guitarist Kota Ito, newly moved to Toronto from Chiba, Japan at an Iron Age show in Toronto over Thanksgiving weekend, 2009. Kota had moved to Toronto for adventure and hoped to start a band when he got there, as the trip would force him to leave his band of 7 years Everybody's Enemy. The two set out to find other members and recruited Conor DiViesti, who had worked with D'Arcy on several bands with in the past that never quite came to fruition; and Rob Brown, an old friend and known local musician who'd been in many local bands as well. In March 2010, the group recorded their self-titled EP with Jonah Falco of Career Suicide/Fucked Up over the span of 3 days and was then mixed by Jon Drew, Juno winning sound engineer (also mixed many records Jonah had played on) with cover art done by Zukk Ozaki who had done a lot of art for Kota's previous band in Japan, Everybody's Enemy. They are currently writing their 15 track full-length LP, coming out summer/fall of 2010 on No Contracts Just Trust Records and are planning on touring Kota's birthplace of Japan in November.
