Steve Lieberman Biography
Born in Brooklyn,NY on 6/21/1958-Perhaps the most unusual artist in 21st century punk fusion, Steve Lieberman also known as the Gangsta Rabbi has been shaking up the New York underground for decades. He has released 15 albums since 2002, most notably "Jewish Lightning" (2003),"Liquidatia-455"(2004) "Punkifier(2005) " Jewish Pirate " (2006)Psych Ward(2008) Overthrow the Government(2008) most strange about all Lieberman's work is tha he fuses punk with industrial, dance, progressive and dance music without the use of guitars, but with plenty of flutes and exotics. Lieberman has played at New York's Madison Square Garden as a guest flute player with rock band Weezer in September 2008 and was #1 digital artist in australia for 6 weeks in 2004. His 'Arbeiter at the Gate CD received a 3 1/2 star review in the All Music Guide citing 'sheer fearlessness' in his style. He has played at Madison Square Garden in 2008 , playing flute with Weezer, his song " I Wish That I Was Hot" was featured on Rich Russo's Anything Anything radio show on WRXP 101.9 a large commercial rock station in new york City, and has given many candid interviews on college and community radio worldwide, sharing his struggles with bi-polar disorder and the chaos of his music making progress. Lieberman is slated to headline the giant Long Island festival Be-In/ Solarfest in the summer of 2009, closing the first day. To bring more controversy and attention to himself, Lieberman's website www.gangstarabbi.com touts him as "the bastard Hebrew son of Jimi Hendrix and Jethro Tull"
