The Anti-Job Biography
The Anti-Job are an indie-avant-punk-psychedelic-clepto rock band from New York. The band formed in 2008 at Vassar College. The members of the band are Amanda Jones, Martin Lopez-Iu and Katie Troy. Amanda sings and plays erratic acoustic guitar riffs, with Martin on electric guitar and Katie Troy on drums. Their song "The Robbery" has been played a few times on the London, England Radio show "Tuck Shop Community Radio" and also on the college radio station WVKR, at Vassar College. In addition, they finished in 2nd place out of 300 bands, as part of a promotional competition to play at Noise Pop festival in San Francisco, California. The Anti-Job has opened for a few larger acts including Elizabeth and the Catapult,Evan Greer and Broadcast live. On June 25th their debut EP "We are the Anti-Job" will be released. The band has decided to release the EP for free via their myspace music page. Many questions have been asked about their name whether the apparent origin "The Anti-Job" is a response to blatant rebellion against the institution of the work force or if there is additional meaning. At the moment they say it's a play on words..meaning "a passionate pursuit." Perhaps in a few months when parents and family aren't judging the band's name, the truth will come out.
