The Sharrow

‘The Sharrow’ were formed in the snug surroundings of Richard Weightman’s bedroom; originally comprising of himself and fellow housemate, guitarist Robert Webster. The twosome had jammed - as well as partied, bush jumped and naked jogged - together for over 5 years, whilst at University. Rich’s strengths lay in tuneful, melodic solos and crushing rhythm, Rob’s - faster, frantic solos and discordant chording. Both provide riffs and rhythms, which are adjusted, adapted and blended together to form an intriguing mash of pure melodic metal mayhem! Pretty soon, Scott Rocco – another one of the boys’ University friends - stuck his nose in, teaching himself the bass to thicken the bands overall sound. The tunes were flowing but a substantial piece of the puzzle was missing and soon a tester rehearsal was carried out. Rob’s friend Dave Anstie, a drummer who’d previously been involved with various local based bands joined the bedroom and the results were amazing. His passionate, heavy and multi influential drum beats were exactly what ‘The Sharrow’ needed. Before long, Initialise was recorded in Rich’s room; with ‘Just The Beginning’, an eerie but beautiful string intro developed by Rich adding the final touches to their first full length song. It’d be hard to describe their sound as simply metal. An underlying mutual love of this genre, combined with a variety of other musical tastes from all four heads results in a sound far harder to define. Songs twist, turn, change in tempo, volume and style, just as you think you know where it’s going – giving ‘The Sharrow’ a truly unique and unpredictable sound. Newly recorded ‘Nightmare’ is one of the bands finest examples of this bold, intentionally erratic and impulsive style. The 9 minute track - described by Rich as the one that won’t be beaten - absorbs you with a leisurely guitar intro, mixed with drumming that jolts right through you. It then whisks you off on a dramatic journey, passing by elegant guitar solos, swooshing divebomb squeals & heavy riffs all tied together with striking drum beats and bold bass tones. 'The Sharrow' were searching for a lead singer.... that search is over! After her amazing 1st performance 'The Sharrow' are delighted to have Katie onboard making their lineup complete.
