Tony Bennett & K.d. Lang Biography
Tony Bennett (born Anthony Dominick Benedetto; August 3, 1926) is an American singer of popular music, standards and jazz. After having achieved artistic and commercial success in the 1950s and early 1960s, his career suffered an extended downturn during the height of the rock music era. Bennett staged a comeback, however, in the late 1980s and 1990s, expanding his audience to a younger generation while keeping his musical style intact. He remains a popular and critically praised recording artist and concert performer in the 2000s. Kathryn Dawn Lang, OC , better known under her stage name k.d. lang is a Grammy Award-winning Canadian singer and songwriter. Lang was born on November 2, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Audrey and Fred Lang. The family moved to Consort, Alberta, when she was nine months old, and there she grew up with her two sisters and one brother on the Canadian prairie. Singing at country and western venues in Canada, Lang made several recordings that received good reviews and earned a 1985 Canadian Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. She accepted the award wearing a wedding dress and made numerous tongue-in-cheek promises about what she would and would not do in the future, thus fulfilling the title of Most Promising. She has won eight Juno Awards.
