Vanishing Point Biography
(1) Vanishing Point progressive metal from Australia (2) Vanishing Point 80s heavy metal from Japan (1) Aussie proggers in the style of Dream Theater, Evergrey, and Fates Warning. Vanishing Point has been a recognised part of the Australian Metal scene since 1997. Their debut album "In Thought" was hailed "Australian Metal album of the Year" by Demon Night Radio and the band was, proclaimed to be "Australia's No.1 Progressive Metal band" by Australia's most important Prog / Power radio show "Screaming Symphony". 2001's "Tangled in Dream" boosted Vanishing Point's fanbase exponentially and helped secure a European supporting tour slot for Gamma Ray, alongside Sonata Arctica. 2005 was the year that Vanishing Point's (very) long awaited third album was released. The album was delayed for nearly an entire year, but was greeted with enormous praise and propelled Vanishing Point into a new direction, not yet ventured before. 2007 saw Vanishing Point release album number four titled "The Fourth Season" through Hamburg based label Dockyard 1. Although they have not set their feet back in Europe for seven years, Vanishing Point had recently supported Nightwish, Black Label Society, Gamma Ray, Dragonforce in Australia and New Zealand. In February 2008, Vanishing Point supported English NWOBHM band Iron Maiden in their "Best of the '80s" tour "Somewhere Back in Time" , supported Helloween on their debut tour of Australia later that month ,as well as just having in July supported legendary guitarist Joe Satriani at the Forum theater in Melbourne for two sold out shows. The two shows in Melbourne supporting Joe Satriani also saw the debut performance of new keyboard player Jake Lowe who auditioned just 3 weeks before the shows began. Vanishing Point will be heading off to Europe to support Finnish greats and long time friends Sonata Arctica which will be starting off in Sweden and seeing the band travel all the way to Spain and many countries in between. Other support band for the tour will be Norway's Pagans Mind , so this looks to be a dynamic tour package! The band hopes that "The Fourth Season" will also see them play live in Japan and America with more concerts in Australia and New Zealand, as well as many other countries. 2009 will see Vanishing Point take time to write and record the follow up to The Fourth Season. (2) Vanishing Point was a Melodic Heavy Metal band from Japan. They were formed in 1985, and split up at some point after 1994. Their last known line up consisted of Ogami Tsubasa on vocals, bass and keyboards, Hanawa Shindi on guitar and Mr. X on drums. Former singer, Mizuki Rei also sung for the band Madstar. Vanishing Point released one EP ("Fantasy of Future" in 1987), one full-length album ("Twilight Zone" in 1988), and two demos ("V - 2" in 1992 and "V - 3" in 1994).
