Vornagar

Vörnagar was a melodic viking death metal band that originated from Los Gatos, California. They were formed in late 2003 by guitarist Greg Larrenaga, bassist Eric Durante and drummer Geoff Frey under the name Arcanum. They soon recruited the help of guitarist Jay Rodriguez and began playing gigs locally. They quickly made a name for themselves in the underground in the San Francisco Bay Area, standing out as one of the better metal acts in the area. Vornagar recorded one demo and one full length album, called "The Bleeding Holocaust". Over time they underwent a few line-up changes. In 2004, Marco Pitruzzella joined the band as the drummer, recording with the band on "The Bleeding Holocaust". In 2006, the band underwent an upheaval. Greg and Marco went off to college, relocating the band to Shady Cove, Oregon. In spite of promising new songs on their website and MySpace pages, the band lapsed into inactivity. Since that time, Marco has formed the technical metal band Brain Drill. Several recycled Vornagar riffs can be heard in the songs of NUMA, another project to which Greg and Marco belonged.
