Alejandra Guzman (born February 9, 1968) is a Mexican rock/pop singer and actress, the daughter of Mexican actress Silvia Pinal and Venezuelan-born rock and roll singer Enrique Guzman. Alejandra Guzman is sometimes called "La Reina del Rock." After traveling with her mother's theater troupe, Guzman recorded her debut album "Bye Mama" after deciding she wanted to focus on singing. The song of the same name, was dedicated to her mother, speaking of how she had always needed to have a normal mother, rather than a superstar mom. She has had a dedicated fanbase throughout Latin America in the late 1980s and 1990s. Her latest album is "Fuerza" released in 2007. In 1990, Guzman scored one of the biggest hits of her career, the song Eternamente Bella ("Eternally Beautiful"), which became a number one hit in Mexico and many other Hispanic countries. The song is considered a classic by many Spanish rock fans. To this hit, Alejandra has added other classics to Mexican Rock like Cuidado Con El Corazon", "Flor De Papel", "Hacer El Amor Con Otro", "Mirala, Miralo." In 1991, she gave birth to her only daughter Frida, named after Frida Kahlo. During her career, Alejandra Guzman has dedicated two songs to Frida. The song "Yo Te Esperaba" was written and recorded during her pregnacy, and the song speaks of what she went through during her pregnacy. The second song dedicated to Frida was released in 2007's "Fuerza" and is titled "Hasta El Final." In the song, Alejandra tells her daughter that she will not give up on her current fight, in which she runs the risk of losing everything. She is referring to the fight she faces with breast cancer. Later in 2000 she married a German businessman who was soon convicted of a crime in the United States, they divorced shortly after. Despite being constantly harassed by paparazzi and being in the middle of multiple controversies, Guzman still remains relatively accessible to her fans, and she signs autographs for them whenever she can. One of these such controversies occurred in April 2003 when Guzman suffered a miscarriage. She blamed the media for the tragic ending of her pregnancy. in 2006, she released Volverte A Amar, which became one of her biggest hits in Mexico. Her album "Indeleble" turned platinum in less than a month. The album won two awards at the Premios Oye! 2006 (Mexico's most important music awards), including Best Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Female. Alejandra was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and is currently seeking treatment.
