Belle And The Devotions Biography
After having been the backing singer for last year's UK entry Sweet Dreams Kit Rolfe was asked by Paul Curtis and Graham Sacher to be in a new girl group with Laura James and Linda Sofield. The result was Belle & The Devotions, Kit being Belle. After having released three singles with no success at all, Paul and Graham wrote Love Games for the 1984 UK final and asked Belle & The Devotions to sing the song. The group got through to the Eurovision final in Luxembourg, but their appearance there was surrounded by a scandal. People accused the group of not singing the song, the backing singers singing instead. This did big harm to the following career of the group. Paul Curtis had had already one entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, The Shadows' Let Me Be The One in 1975. Subsequent compositions didn't make it to the Eurovision stage until this year's entry.
