Ben Walther Biography
Equipped simply with a guitar and amp purchased from a pawn shop in Austin, Texas, Ben Walther began in search of his God-given personal legend. As a teenager music was a needed escape until Ben left for the Franciscan University at Steubenville, OH when he realized the Holy Spirit could work through him. As original songs flowed from his fingertips and Ben began to minister to others, his life meaning was made clear. Now equipped with a degree, a purpose and the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, along with his guitar and amp, Ben went into full-time youth ministry in St. Louis, MO where he ventured in getting the words written on his heart on paper and fashioned to song. In February of 2004, determined to do what it took to live out his purpose, Ben traveled to Nashville and Fred Paragano at Paragon Studios in Franklin, TN helped spawn what is now “Where I Want to Be”. From there Ben worked with Producer Mike Ofca with Innovation Studios at Steubenville, OH and finally in August of 2004, “Where I Want to Be” was released. Now the Ben Walther Band are definitely ‘where they want to be’ having begun their musical journey joining Ben a little over a year ago on January 1, 2005. 500 teens from all over the Diocese of Lafayette, Indiana broke the band in with their first gig in March of 2005. Soon after the word spread and the Ben Walther Band booked shows all over the US performing in Florida, California and their native Texas, at popular venues such as Minute Maid Park, Home of the Houston Astros, KSBJ (the TOP Christian Radio Station for the Houston Metroplex) headquarters and the KSBJ first Annual SummerFest Music Festival. There is no shortage of God’s blessings upon the band. Four short months after the band’s conception, in April of 2005, “Take Some Time” was nominated for a Runner Up Award for the KCCM Song of the Year! And they have been featured in a Christian Music Magazine of the MidWest. Amidst this rapid realization of his personal dreams, Ben Walther is supported by his stunning wife, Maria, and their vivacious, beautiful daughters, Hannah and Michaela, soon to be joined by a third Walther due February 10, 2006. Ben is proof that being where you want to be is definitely a good thing.
