Elena Gheorghe

Elena Gheorghe is a Romanian singer. She represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. Her breakthrough came in 2003; one of her most notable music singles is "Te Ador". Elena is half Aromanian, and half Romanian.She has a sister named Ana who is a journalist, and a brother, Costin. Her mother Marioara Man Gheorghe is a singer, and is the one who inspired her love for music. When Elena was 3 years old she debuted on the music scene with her mother.While in the fifth grade she joined the Children's National Palace, where she took singing lessons and went on to perform with the "Harmony Circle soloist", participating in contests, and tournaments around the country. On January 31, 2009, it was revealed that Gheorghe would represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia. She performed the song The Balkan Girls. She qualified from Semi Final 1, to reach the Grand Final in 9th place in the first semi Final. In the Grand Final she came 19th with 40 points, with 1 set of 12 points from Moldova.
